Most movers and packers are crooks. Some of them are incompetent. Some of them are lazy.
It is however rare to find a single agency who ticks all three boxes. Mr. Move is one of those unique companies.
I gave these guys my shipment in mid July 2022 in Bangalore. I finally received them, after 100s upon 100s of telephone calls, most of them completely ignored, a lot of heartache, well over three months after the material was packed. Origin: Bangalore, Destination: Dubai.
Mr. [Name removed by Sirelo] supposedly runs this operation. He exemplifies everything this company stands for - crooked, incompetent and lazy at the same time.
Here's a short list (not comprehensive) of Mr. Move's misdemeanours:
1. Tried to over-charge us, right at the outset. I measured out our shipment during the packing and it came to under 4CBM. He tried to charge us for 5.5 CBM. Thankfully I didn't fall for that, but I guess most people who don't do these measurements, do.
2. Even after multiple
requests and follow-ups from my end, [NAme removed by Sirelo] and his incompetent team (Ms. [Name removed by Sirelo] was assigned to us) could not send us a simple receipt for the shipment. Same with insurance - I had to follow up a 100 times just to pay for insurance, and they had no qualms in delaying the insurance paperwork by more than 45 days after I had handed them over my stuff.)
3. I was promised delivery in end August. Everyone at Mr. Move became unresponsive to calls or email around that time. I must have easily called them atleast 50 times without getting a response on telephone.
4. After lots of effort, I finally got through and was told that due to some congestion at Jebel Ali port that is impacting all shipments, my delivery was going to get delayed by a week to September 7th. Since it seemed like a situation out of their control, I didn't object. Atleast, I finally had a date.
5. September 10th came, then 15th... No sign of the shipment - the port continued to be congested according to Mr. Move.
6. Smelling a rat, I asked for the container tracking details so that I could see what was happening. No response. I must have asked for a tracking number a 100 times. No response.
7. Finally, I was given a tracking number, and an update that the shipment was delayed by another couple of weeks due to 'rollover' at Mundra port in India... Wait, wasn't the ship already at the congested Jebel Ali port? Why is Mundra port rollover a factor now? No response.
8. I wait for 2 weeks and then enter the container tracking ID provided to me... That container is in ROTTERDAM! It never came to Dubai.
9. Exasperated, anxious and utterly at my wits end, I try to contact Mr. Move again and again. No response on phone or email. It is clear that I have the wrong container ID - either that, or these incompetent clowns have actually sent my stuff to Rotterdam.
10. Finally, Mr. [Name removed by Sirelo] comes to his senses, and responds to my calls. 'I was busy with some personal work. As a result, your shipment is still in (wait for this) NEW DELHI. It has not yet left India, and will only come in the next ship, after travelling by road from Delhi to Gujarat.'
I have no idea why Mr. Move is in existence. It is appalling that a company with such incompetent people have the license to run this business in India. Here's a piece of advice - find someone else. Anyone else. In fact, you are better off selling all your possessions at a 80% markdown, rather than try to ship it with Mr. Move.Read more
